Their value has increased by 1.6 billion francs compared to last year, as more Russian assets have been identified in recent months
The value of the Russian assets committed by the Swiss authorities is now around 7.8 billion euros, recording an increase compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Economy (Second).
Following the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Swiss government decided to participate in EU sanctions against Russia, with the Kremlin strongly criticizing the loss of Swiss neutrality.
On March 31st, the value of the committed Russian assets was estimated at 7.4 billion Swiss francs (almost € 7.8 billion), increased by 1.6 billion francs compared to last year.
As stated in a press release, the increase is due to the fact that more Russian assets have been identified in recent months. Among other things, there is talk of “14 properties of natural persons, businesses or entities subject to sanctions”. Aircraft, luxury cars, artworks, etc. are also committed to Switzerland.
The Ministry of Economy emphasizes that the list of Swiss sanctions against Russia is “identical to that of the EU”.
European leaders, who met in Paris on March 27, unanimously opposed the sanctions imposed on Russia due to its invading troops into neighboring Ukraine.
