The updating of the relationship guide between the accommodation and their customers by the Minister of Tourism could not come in a better time. The new driver was published in the Government Gazette and provides strict fines of up to € 5,000 for offenders.

The accommodation provider can only lease in two occasions:

  • If the customer refuses to present a legal evidence of his identity
  • If the customer refuses to present a valid credit or debit card in his name, if it has been explicitly put by the provider as a prerequisite for renting room/apartment/bed/location.

To avoid “misunderstandings” and certainly before the lease contract was concluded the accommodation provider must have disclosed in a clear and understandable manner:

  • His identity such as his commercial name, and/or his distinctive title. (The Ministry of Tourism constitutes the providers to acquire the animal friendly accommodation signal)
  • His geographical address, his phone number, his email address and his website, if any.
  • The official classification of the accommodation, if any, as well as the availability of its facilities and benefits (including swimming pools, restaurants, sports facilities, etc.).
  • The time of arrival (check-in, at the latest by 15.00) and checkout, and the opening hours of the host service and other services offered.
  • The total price, with a clear reference to the benefits and services included in this price, and any additional burdens as well as the available payment methods
  • Any installations, amenities and relevant services that are not included in the total price, with a clear update on the additional charge applicable to their use.
  • Other information related to his policy, which may significantly influence client’s decision

Reservations

If the provider cannot dispose to the customer the leased room/apartment/bed/throughout the agreed duration, it is obliged to ensure the customer’s stay, for all or residual duration, in another accommodation, at least in the same category, which is located in the same area and has at least the same area.

In this case, the provider shall be charged with the cost of transporting the customer and the possible addition of the rent for his / her stay in the new accommodation.

OR Lease Convention is considered valid Only when the customer signs the offer or has sent his written consent or has paid the amount of money stated in the provider’s offer as a deposit or as a repayment of the reservation. The deposit may not be lower than the cost of 1 overnight.

The provider is obliged to respond to the customer in a fixed means of accepting or not to reserve his / her accommodation in a reasonable period of time.
In the event of a booking via an electronic platform, the written confirmation is made exclusively by the managers of this platform.

Cancellation

If the customer does not use the accommodation he must pay to the provider, for the period when he did not use the accommodation, compensation equal to half of the amount he should pay if he used it. Any advance payment paid by the customer is offset. (Also applies to delayed arrival unless it is due to inevitable and emergencies)

Customer has no obligation if he informs about cancellation At least 21 days before the contract start. In this case, the provider is obliged to immediately refund the advance payment he received.

Exceptionally, the provider may propose to the customer a special discount price on the condition of immediate repayment and without the possibility of refunding in the event of a cancellation by the customer. If the latter accepts the special discount price in writing and annulled the detention, the provider shall not be obliged to refund the amount paid.

Renewal – Loading Explanation

The lease is automatically renewed for each next day after its expiration, provided that the customer has not been notified to the client or vice versa for non -continuation. If the provider or client notifies the expiry of the lease, the notice is made 1 day earlier.

In the event of a complaint of the lease, the provider reserves the right to require the customer the immediate evacuation of the room and leave the hotel. The customer is obliged to pay the rent due to the entire agreed reservation.

Provider liability

The customer must, upon arrival at the accommodation, to deliver to the provider the valuable items or items of great value and the money he carries against proof. In case of non -delivery, the provider is exempt from compensation liability customer for harm, destruction or loss unless the damage is due to a deliberate or gross negligence of the provider.
