The amounts account for 80% of losses related to 2024 losses, which are expected to be completed in the coming period. Whereas, for the objections of 2023, 17,800,000 euros have been paid, an amount of applications that have been re -evaluated and not a difference between first and second findings.

The Minister of Rural Development and Food, Costas Tsiaras said: “The political choice of our government is to support our primary sector and our farmers. Only for the losses of 2024, ELGA has already paid Greek producers, over 125m euros, while a total of more than € 1.6 billion has been reimbursed over the last 6 years, with farmers’ contributions of just € 800m. With a plan, consistency and determination, we continue to stand by the primary sector, securing the income of producers and investing in the future of Greek agriculture. “

The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, Dionysis Stamenitis, said: “Since 2019, the governments of the New Democracy and Kyriakos Mitsotakis are consistently and meaningful interventions next to Greek producers. We have proven that whenever needed we proceeded with emergency interventions, while developing a protection grid, with permanent measures such as tax cuts or interventions in agricultural oil. So today, the leadership of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, under the Minister, Mr Tsiara, has proceeded with the payment of immediate aid of minor importance to give breath to producers who, due to damage (viral insults, disasters, etc.), suffered loss of income. To the extent that fiscal and national and union law allow it, we will continue to strengthen our producers while applying our planning for the overall transformation of our primary sector. “
