See how the payment of the 13th of the INSS to retirees will be

by

The INSS (National Institute of Social Security) defined the rules for paying the 13th to retirees, pensioners and aid recipients, which will start to be released from April 25th. The Christmas bonus will be paid to more than 30 million policyholders, with a turnover of R$ 56 billion.

Ordinance published in the Federal Official Gazette on Wednesday (23) determines who will be entitled to the full benefit and who will receive proportional amounts, in addition to indicating how the payment will be for policyholders who retire from May.

As in 2020 and 2021, the two installments of the 13th will be paid in the first semester. The first of them will come together with the April benefit and the second, in the competence of May. Whoever is entitled to a benefit in the amount of the minimum wage (R$ 1,212 this year) receives first. Afterwards, the amounts will be paid to those who earn more than the national floor.

According to Ordinance Dirben/INSS 1022, the first installment of the 13th will correspond to exactly 50% of the value of the April social security benefit for those who already received the INSS benefit in January this year.

In May, the second installment will be released, which has a discount from the Income Tax for those who are obliged to pay, therefore, the amount will be lower for some policyholders.

What is the value of the 13th for those who receive sick pay?

For those who receive a temporary disability benefit, which is the former sickness benefit, the payment calculation is different. As it is a benefit whose discharge is programmed, the amount will be calculated proportionally.

“In the event of programmed termination of the benefit before December 31, 2022, the proportional amount of the annual allowance will be paid to the beneficiary”, says the ordinance.

For policyholders who receive permanent benefits, such as retirement, if the benefit ends before December 31, 2022, what the institute calls an “account match between the amount paid to the beneficiary and the amount actually owed” will be carried out. .

The same rule applies to those who receive sick pay. If it is terminated before the scheduled discharge date, because the insured has already recovered, there will also be a settlement of accounts with a discount of what was overpaid.

In the case of policyholders who retire or start receiving any Social Security benefit as of May, the payment of the 13th will be made in full, in November. In this case, the money will be in the account from the 24th of November.

In these cases, there will be no payment of any additional amount referring to previous competences, according to the ordinance. The 13th is not paid to those who receive BPC (Benefício de Prestação Continuada) or who have a variable monthly income.

You are entitled to the 13th of the INSS who receives:

  • Temporary disability assistance
  • accident assistance
  • Retirement
  • pension for death
  • Reclusion allowance
