The two Vice -Presidents of the Federal Bank of the US, Michel Bowman and Philip Jefferson, and Dallas Lori Logan’s Fed President are examined as candidates for the position of Central Bank President when the post is open next year, according to two officials.
Finance Minister Scott Bessed, who runs the search, will interview additional candidates in the coming weeks, said officials, who were anonymous to speak honestly about the process. Donald Trump is expected to make his final announcement this fall, they said.
Others under consideration are Kevin Hasset, a close financial adviser to Trump, Fed Commander Christopher Waller, Economist Mark Summerlin and former Fed officials Kevin Wars and James Bulad, people said.
Last week, Trump proposed Steven Miran, chairman of the White House Finance Council, to cover a post on the Fed Board of Directors in late January. The post was opened when Adriana Kougler announced her early retirement.
With Miran’s candidacy heading to the Senate for confirmation, the Trump team does not feel the need to speed up the president’s search, officials said.
Bessed will interview all the candidates for the presidency and then make a recommendation to the US president, officials said
