The government is welcomed by the strategic agreement between ELTA and ALPHA BANK for jointly providing banking services throughout Greece.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the relevant ministers were informed today of the completion of the negotiation at a meeting held at the Maximos Palace.

As the prime minister pointed out, the agreement is a recognition and sealing of the changes made to ELTA in recent years. It contributes to the conversion of an once deeply troubled business into a company that can attract one of the systemic Greek banks as a strategic partner, which includes one of the largest financial entities in Europe, Unicredit in its equity composition.

This agreement will make a significant contribution to the government’s policy to enhance the inclusion of elderly citizens, small and medium -sized region and remote communities in the stable provision of banking services.

The postman, as a familiar person in every citizen and every home, in combination with local postal annexes as places of service across the country, are now transformed into a development axis that facilitates local economic activity, using new technologies, new digital tools and the possibility of using innovative banking services.

The distances are now getting smaller. Every citizen and small business has access to the well -known postal and new banking service with ELTAs next to him, when today about 1.1 million citizens are estimated to have no access to a bank branch within a radius of less than 10 kilometers.

ELTAs are open to other such partnerships as well as for further modernization initiatives.

Today’s meeting was attended by government vice -president Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the head of Prime Minister Michalis Argyrou’s financial office. Also participating were Bank of Greece Bank Christina Papakonstantinou, Chief Executive Officer Yiannis Papachristou, ELTA CEO Grigoris Sklikas, Alpha Bank Managing Director Vassilis Psalis and Vasilis Psalis.
