The total value of the assets of insurance companies during the first three months of the year was slightly reduced, due to the reduction of deposits and placements of companies in debit securities.
Specifically, according to Bank of Greece data, the total value of the insurance companies’ assets decreased by EUR 164 million compared to the previous quarter and stood at EUR 21,059 million at the end of the first quarter of 2025.
More specifically, total insurance deposits were reduced by EUR 61 million and stood at € 529 million at the end of the first quarter of 2025. Deposits to the internal credit institutions decreased by EUR 43 million and stood at EUR 390 million, while deposits at € 18 million were also reduced by € 18 million and € 139 million. On the contrary, the value of total positions on mutual capital share, which amounted to EUR 6,438 million, compared to EUR 6,219 million in the previous quarter, and their percentage of total assets increased to 30.6% in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 29.3% in the previous quarter.
The increase in the value of the locations is mainly due to net markets of the other euro area countries.
Finally, the value of total shares and other ownerships increased, as it increased to EUR 1,016 million, compared to EUR 973 million in the previous quarter, a development due to the rise in the ratings of the domestic shares, which was partially offset by the reduction of its equity.
The percentage of total shares in all assets increased to 4.8% in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 4.6% in the previous quarter.
On the passive side, the equity increased to EUR 3,566 million at the end of the first quarter of 2025, compared to EUR 3,462 million in the previous quarter, while insurance technical forecasts decreased by EUR 244 million to EUR 15,555 million.
More specifically, insurance technical forecasts decreased by EUR 216 million and stood at € 11,950 million, while losses of losses decreased by EUR 28 million and stood at EUR 3,605 million.
