“We are at a very crucial point for OPECEPE. The debt of the government and the state is to ensure the smooth flow of European money – this is the first priority. But our debt is to go through the time of transparency and justice“, Emphasized by the Minister of Rural Development and Food Costas Tsiaras, from the House of Representatives, answering a timely question by Freedom Freedom MP Alexandros Kazami.
The minister clearly referred to the timeless pathogens that hit OPEKEPE, noting that this is not a new phenomenon, but for chronic accumulated problems, starting with the adoption of the so -called “technical solution” from 2015. enabled virtual pastures with no connection with livestock. “From 2015 onwards it was possible to declare pastures who had nothing to do with livestock facilities, while in 2017, with a new ministerial decision, it was possible to certify pastures even without animal capital. This has essentially opened a ‘back door’ that altered the logic of the aid system, “Mr Tsiaras said.
OPEKEPE for the restoration of legality and functional reconstruction of the OPEKEPE, has been implemented in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate -General for Agriculture since September 2023, with a 12 -month horizon and clear steps, which will be evaluated in September.
The pillars of the project, according to the Minister of Rural Development and Food, are as follows:
- OPECEPE’s surveillance by the YPATA for constant monitoring of developments.
- Restore the competence of grazing plans in the ministry after four years of inactivity.
- Completion of auction issues and signing a program contract with the “Information Society” for the full development of the information subsystem.
- Reconstruction of the Board of Directors, with the participation of – for the first time – of the General Director of Information Systems of AADE and the presidency of a former supreme judiciary, as a clear message of transparency.
At the same time, the minister confirmed that he had fully worked with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, facilitating access to data, stressing that the investigation should continue without shadows, with the aim of fully responsible for responsibility. Referring to the removal of OPEKEPE President Mr. Salata, the minister clarified that: “Our cooperation was unhindered and his work is reflected in the results – timely payments, EDSE’s timely posting. The disagreement was due to a single fact that it broadcast a message that is far from the government’s position towards the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Concerning the submission of OPECEPE to AADE, Mr. Tsiaras said: “AADE is the only body with proven know -how at the level of real and internal controls. If we do not realize that OPECEPE’s integration into AADE is the only real solution, then we are just discussing the image – not about the essence. I personally have nothing to fear or something to hide” Concluding, the minister stressed: ‘OPECEPE is a crucial organization, with a role not only economic but also social. The next day cannot be built on shadows. Can only be built on transparency, accountability and full justice for all citizens“
