The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanassis, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, were signed for 20 new projects under the Interreg VI-A Greece-Cyprus 2021–2027 collaboration program, with a total budget 33.5 million euros.

Overall, There are 88 bodies – 47 from Greece and 41 from Cyprus and upon completion of the process, it is put into full orbit A comprehensive set of cross -border actions, with a time horizon over the next two years and aiming to enhance durability, viability and social cohesion in the areas of the program.

Acts are implemented in Crete, North and South Aegean and Cyprus, pursuing a joint challenge and focus on four specific goals:

  • Energy efficiency And green energy, with interventions that reduce the energy footprint of public infrastructure, utilizing high performance technologies and smart energy management systems.
  • Climate durability and management of natural disasters, through enhancing the equipment, readiness and operational capabilities of Civil Protection and Civil Defense bodies.
  • Protection of nature and biodiversitywith the development of digital monitoring, imprinting and analysis of environmental data.
  • Accessibility, culture and social integrationwith interventions that enhance accessibility in cultural and physical spaces for people with disabilities and reduced mobility, while highlighting the role of culture and sustainable tourism as levers of economic growth, social integration and social innovation.
