The European Commission proposed a new package of sanctions, in the 18th of the Bloc, against Russia as a result of its invasion of Ukraine, targeting Moscow’s revenue from the energy sector, its banks and its military industry, European Commission President Ur.

The new package proposes the ban on transactions associated with the use of Russia’s Nord Stream gas pipelines, as well as banks that bypass the sanctions.

“Russia’s goal is not peace, it is to impose the rule of the powerful … Power is the only language that Russia will understand,” von der Laien told a press conference for the presentation of the new sanctions package.

The Commission also proposes to reduce the ceiling for the Russian crude imposed by the Seven (G7) team to $ 45 a barrel from $ 60, in an effort to reduce Russia’s energy revenue.

Ursula von der Laien added that the pricing ceiling for Russian crude will be discussed during the meeting of G7 members this week.

“My case is that we do this together as a G7. We started it as a G7, it was successful as a measure by the G7 and I want this measure to continue as G7, “the Commission President said.

The proposed sanctions package of the European Commission also lists more vessels that are part of Russia’s shadow fleet as well as oil trading companies.

“The next round of sanctions of the EU against Russia will target Russia’s energy revenue, including the shadow fleet, the military industry and its banking sector,” said EU diplomacy chief Kaya Calas.

EU countries will begin the debate on the proposal this week.
