The DEDDIE checks on the treatment of rheumatopes in high tourist areas, having identified more than 200 violations with stolen energy, which is estimated at more than 1m euros, continue at an intensive pace.
DEDDIE, with a strategic priority to combat the phenomenon of rheumatics, with the aim of protecting consistent consumers and the proper functioning of the network, continues with specialized audits throughout the country with specialized staff.
At least 200 cases of rheumatism
In recent days, 1,155 checks have been completed for large consumers and mainly dining and hospitality, supermarket, ovens, mills, packaging and dairy, in Crete, Rhodes, Kos, Naxos, Tinos, Mykonos, Mykonos, Mykonos
Indicatively, some of the cases found and expected – according to preliminary estimates – to lead to confirmed debts that touch several tens, even hundreds of thousands of euros, are as follows:
• Hotel: More than 200,000 euros
• Supermarket: 63,000 euros
• Cheesecake: 20,000 euros
• Package: 50,000 euros
• Two mills: 30,000 euros each
• Beach Bar: 60,000 euros
Along with the checks, HEDNO recalls that rheumatics constitute a criminal offense and lays the imposition of strict fines on the basis of it
A legislative framework, determined by RAAE.
However, the procedure for collecting the certified debts, despite their immediate certificate, often delayed significantly, sometimes for more than a year, due to the prescribed installments and the possibility of appealing to remedies, such as temporary orders or interim measures.
The efficiency of debt collection and the fight against the phenomenon remains a central goal of HEDNO, for the benefit of all consistent consumers.
In this context, DEDDIE’s systematic effort is also reflected in the overall picture nationwide during the first five months of this year, confirming the dynamics developed in 2024. Specifically, significant increases were recorded in all basic indicators as technical controls increased by approximately 65%, by approximately 65%, by approximately 65%. Certified claims recorded an increase of 57%, reaching € 35.3 million.
In order to effectively achieve the goal of preventing rheumatopes, HEDNO implements a holistic treatment plan, which combines the utilization of advanced systems and technologies with automated data analysis and upgraded information systems by enhancing human resources (already 200 recruitment). These actions not only contribute to the reduction of rheumatics, protecting consistent customers, but also to ensuring rational pricing, enhancing the transparency and reliability of the network.
