Panel SA: Airlines unite to warn Cade about jet fuel price

by

Airlines have embarked on pressure from Cade to raise scrutiny over Petrobras at a time of rising gasoline, diesel and cooking gas.

Abear, Iata and Jurcaib, associations representing domestic and international airlines, prepared a request to the municipality for the issue of aviation kerosene to be included and detailed in the scope of Cade’s administrative inquiry that investigates possible abuses by the state-owned company in the fuel market.

The increase in the price of aircraft fuel has been treated in the airline industry as a very worrying headache because it has the potential to raise the value of tickets to a level capable of inhibiting consumption and causing a cut in the offer of flights.

And this happens at a time when the sector had not yet managed to recover from the shock suffered by the pandemic.

The assessment is that there is a de facto monopoly in the production and import of aviation kerosene by Petrobras with the infrastructure for refining and handling oil and derivatives, in addition to a dominant participation in the import of the main derivatives.
