Definitive: late August – early September Thousands of vehicles who are either uninsured or not passed by KTEOs will receive “raws” and will be required to pay heavy fines of up to 1,000 euros and in exceptional cases they are doubled while the license is deducted! The electronic control and cross -checking mechanism is ready and reportedly has already taken a “job”. Lists are currently formed with offenders.
This process has passed into the hands of the Ministry of Digital Governance and after several years of “anchorages” that did not allow the start -ups to start the tax intersections, the whole system has been put in motion.
Which fines are imposed on a case -by -case basis
Extensive intersections are carried out on all vehicles through a dedicated platform and these checks will be repeated every six months, an element that has been made clear at a meeting on the subject by the responsible Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou With the President of the Athinos Chamber of CommerceN Yannis Hadjitodosiou.
Thus, at the end of summer with early autumn, uninsured vehicles, as well as those who have not passed through the Vehicle Control Center (KTEO), will receive a notice of fines of 250 to 1,000 euros.
If they ignore their obligation and do not comply, they are at risk of a double fine of what they will be called upon to pay or even lose the vehicle license and registration license.
Specifically, the fines will be “heavy” for offenders, as they will start at € 250 depending on illegality and can reach, even € 30,000, in the event of a recurrence.
Electronic checks will be carried out once per calendar semester and offenders will face with Fines:
- From 250 to 1,000 euros if the vehicle is found uninsured. Specifically, the law provides for a fine of EUR 1,000 for buses and public trucks, 500 euros for passenger and other vehicles of each nature and 250 euros for scooters.
- Equal to traffic charges (plus annual fees) in the case of uninsured vehicles if a debt fee is found at least one year.
- EUR 400 if the vehicle has not undergone a periodic inspection of a Vehicle Technical Control Center.
When is a registration license deducted
In case of relapse, the fines are doubled and the registration license and state signs of the vehicle are deducted. They are refunded only by the presentation of the relevant insurance contract or the current technical inspection of the vehicle or the certificate of non -debt of traffic charges, where appropriate, and the proof of payment of the fine.
Three months after notification of the fine, the law stipulates that when an online cross -check is found, a second electronic cross -check is mandatory.
If, during this inspection, the owner of the vehicle registration license (owner or owner of the vehicle) is found, the registration license and vehicle plates are deducted.
The “crazy”, however, that the intersections so far have been brought together include cases of vehicles that have either passed KTEOs, but … they are not insured or have insured and … they have not passed by KTEO.
