Regarding reports that leave spikes to destroy control data, OPEKEPE’s administration clarifies:

The Archive Material of the Organization sent to recycle on 10-07-2025 in Thessaloniki was in 2014 and the destruction was carried out in accordance with the projected procedure of OPEKEPE archive material, which began on 30-01-2025 with the sending of the Distribution Tables. 23412/02-07-2025 document of AADE and the Protocol of Delivery of Materials between the AAD-General Directorate of Customs-Department of Public Material Management and its affiliated recycling company.

It is clarified that this file did not include archival material that had been notified that it was checked and the OPEKEPE digital archives are digitized all the necessary information that the authorities could need for fraud checks.

The same procedure had been carried out in previous years, as provided for in the whole State, applying the legislation governing the years of keeping each file, namely:

1) Article 3 of Presidential Decree 768/1980

2) Articles 4-13 of PD 365/1981

3) Article 3 of Regulation (EU) 2988/1995

4) Article 93 of Law 4129/2013, as amended by Article 39 of Law 4509/2017

5) Article 32 of CAN (EU) 908/22014 and No. 26894/15-03-2019 D-08-01 ” Circular Digitization and Clearance of OPECEPE Forms Destruction Management and Clearance of OPEKEPE ” as amended and in force by No. 13148/01-03-03-2023.

According to the above circular “…. OPECEPE’s competent services must periodically liquidate their files in the first quarter of each year … “following the procedure briefly described as the following:
• Sending the tables of destroyed materials from the OPEKEPE Directorates to the competent permanent three -member committee of the Agency (MTE)
• MTE According to the circular and the legislation governing the years of keeping each file, it issues a practical with the final tables that are transmitted to the general records of the state to begin by the process of selecting historical interest of files. The process beyond
• The General Archives of the State After completing all the procedures they issue a permit of destruction to OPECEPE
• OPEKEPE issues a file destruction decision sent to the General Directorate of Customs and Special Taxes of the AADE- Department of Public Material Management and includes an assessment of the quantity of archival material intended for divestiture-recording.

Therefore any connection of the constant and legal practical destruction of files with any other procedure or ongoing research at the agency’s offices is non -existent and, perhaps, sly.
