Clarifications on a front-page report on the return of unnecessary amounts paid by National Bank pensioners were provided with a radio interview by E-EFKA Governor Alexander Varveris.

He made it clear that this decision concerns a total of 1983 National Bank pensioners who have retired before 2016, for a case that was a case of a mistake by the incorrect data granted by the former National Bank’s pensioners fund.

In addition, he emphasized that during the process of re-checking by E-EFKA in all pensions paid, the National Bank’s computer data was found to have three major errors.

In detail:

-The first was that they had increased brains only for part of their insurance time. But the EIB’s computer system was registered all of their insurance time with the increased brains and therefore it was mistakenly calculated on the EIB bases the brain throughout their time.

– The second mistake concerns retirees who had some time of insurance abroad and while a partial pension from Greece had been justified, they had been mistakenly imprinted on the EIB’s computer system all their insurance time as an internal insurance time.

– The third error is found in retirees who received a reduced pension due to old age in which they were not mistakenly taken into account their reduction in the amount of the pension due to age, as it was not imprinted on the EIB’s computer system.

The E-EFKA commander noted that these pensioners are aware of the issue and from August 2024 have gradually began to receive their regular payment and the refund of retroactives, according to the Code of Public Revenue, in 60 installments.

He clarified that the overwhelming majority of pensioners who are called upon to refund their indefinable amounts paid from 1,000 to 1,500 euros and the reduction they see in their pensions is 16 to 25 euros per month. At the same time, he said there are about 15 retirees who are called upon to return larger amounts, due to the fact that they had high earnings, also calculated on the wrong bases.

Finally, Mr Varveris stressed that he is currently underway and a bodily co -host is being completed on the issue of recalculating all the pensions paid, having already completed 99.9% of the procedure.
