A new era for the development and strengthening of the port of Piraeus, as one of the most important gates to the European Union, is inaugurated by the unification of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Piraeus Customs Office, according to the decision of the Commander of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, as it was George Pitsis.
Specifically, according to AADE announcement, The three customs are integrated in 1st Piraeus Customs, which will now serve even more effectively to facilitate legal trade, protect consumer safety and health and safeguarding the fiscal interests of both the country and the EU.
The new, reinforced 1st Piraeus Customs will be in full operational operation Since September 8, 2025reinforcing Greece’s position in international transit trade.
Responsibilities
The 1st Customs Office of Piraeus will serve all freight flows and transactions that have hitherto managed the three customs (1st, 2nd and 3rd) Piraeus, with spatial competence throughout their area of action.
It is excluded from the customs of used vehicles, which is not included in its responsibilities and will continue to take place in the rest of the Attica customs.
This organizational reform is part of AADE’s more general action plan to modernize and reform the National Customs Charter, following the vote of the new Customs Code. Central axes of the drawing are:
* The centralization of checks.
* The utilization of the new digital environment for the implementation of customs processes, functions and controls.
* Monitoring freight flows through the Professional Vehicle Monitoring System.
