With two new nurseries in Chaidari and Ilion, which will operate in the fall of 2025, the Public Employment Service (DBA) strengthens the support of working families, expanding its stations network.
Speaking to RES-EIA, DBA administrator Yianna Hormova states that with two new, modern structures in Chaidari and Ilion, which are added from the fall of 2025 to the network of privately owned nurseries, the DBA is reinforced by the Employees, country.
It is reported that its 28 nurseries are fully equipped, designed with high pedagogical standards and are part of the broader context of DBA social policy, which promotes care and support of preschool children.
Indeed, Mrs Choramova notes that the great response to the privately owned Nurseries of DBA is clearly reflected in this year’s data. For the school year 2025-2026, as he points out, a record of applications was reached as they reached 4,386, recording an increase of 6% compared to last year and marking the highest participation since their launch.
“This great response confirms the trust of families in quality preschool care and free hospitality offered by DBA. Consequently, in its social mission, the DBA will continue to invest in the creation of modern and functional structures that respond substantially to the needs of the modern family, ensuring quality services for more and more children, ”says Ms. Hormova.
The DBA, through the Nursery School Operation Program, aims to contribute to the work being done in the area of preschool education and at the same time supporting the families of workers and the unemployed, with the aim of smooth development of their children through appropriate conditions of care and education.
According to DBA officials, “its nurseries are given particular emphasis on the smooth development of children (physical and mental health), taking into account science findings, such as psychology, medicine and pedagogy.
Pedagogical programs and events in these sites are aimed at (a) eliminating differences that may arise from the cultural, economic and educational level of their parents and (b) the smooth transition of children from family to school environment.
Children, under the guidance of experienced pedagogical staff, are trained in adopting the choices that promote physical and mental health and, indirectly, are trained by other family members, through organized gatherings of parents, but also by their parents.
During the school year, many group activities are organized, such as “World Environment Day”, “I paint my city”, theatrical performances, etc. “
DBA’s actions include:

– the presence of a pediatrician and the drawing of diet, according to childhood needs,
– Educational programs are based on the pediatric -centered approach, which focuses on the uniqueness, needs and interests of each child, but also on the characteristics of all ages,
– Pilot Education Programs (educational walks, action plans around intercultural education, laboratory circles, etc.),,
– Regularly informing parents with parents’ gatherings and joint actions with parents,
– The adoption of appropriate hygiene and safety options, as well as compliance with nutrition rules and the provision of meal from each kindergarten and not through mass catering.
Nursery schools operate in privately owned buildings and comply with all modern safety, hygiene and functionality standards of preschool sites. Their logistical equipment is in line with modern pedagogy and serves pedagogical programs and events in these areas.
Infant and infant hospitality is free and are accepted by six months and toddlers from 2.5 years to register with kindergarten.
It is also provided with the necessary quality and quantitative food (breakfast and lunch), which is prepared at the stations (reciprocal program to beneficiaries).
The operation of the nurseries begins on September 1st and ends on July 31 of the following year, for five days a week, from Monday to Friday.
The opening hours of the stations starts at 6:45 and ends at 16:00.
The decision of the DBA Board of Directors sets out the criteria for scoring, which are social (luxury children, orphans, children of single parent families, disabled children, etc.) and financially, with priority families with low income.
Applications are submitted during the first fortnight of May, through Gov.gr, to a special electronic application of the DBA, while all the operating expenses of kindergartens are covered by the DBA budget.
It is noted that DBA participates in the action “Promotion and support of children for their integration into preschool education, as well as the access of school age, adolescents and people with disabilities, creative employment services”, with the beneficiary of EETAA. SA, co-financed by the European Social Fund (ECB) and National Resources, in the framework of the Corporate Pact for Regional Development (NSRF) for the programming period 2021-2027.
DBA nurseries exist in the following areas:
Attica Nursery Schools in Municipalities: Agia Varvara, Ano Liosia, Elefsina, Keratsini, Moschato, Peristeri, Menidi and Olympic Village.
Nursery Schools in cities: Agriniou, Arta, Drama, Igoumenitsa, Ioannina, Kalamata, Kavala, Karditsa, Karpenisi, Komotini, Messolonghi, Naoussa, Xanthi, Patras, Pylaia Thessaloniki, Serres, Trikala and Larissa.
For the new school year 2025-2026 there will be two new nurseries in the Prefecture of Attica and, in particular, in Chaidari and Ilion.
