Feasible and useful for security of supply with natural gas is the addition of a floating Liquefied Gas tank at the Revythousa terminal, DESFA sources point out to APE-MPE, noting however that the solution is to be implemented quickly, as the demand for such infrastructure internationally is increased due to the war in Ukraine.
According to the decisions taken at the extraordinary meeting of the Crisis Management Committee of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, on Wednesday, under the Minister Costa Skrekathe Administrator should submit today a first cost – benefit analysis for the addition of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) floating tank.
As explained by the Administrator’s sources in APE-MPE, the floating tank will not only upgrade (almost double) the storage capacity in Revythousa, but will mainly increase the flexibility of the supply chain with Liquefied Natural Gas.
That is, there will be the possibility of accommodating ships in periods when the fixed tanks are full, so there will be the possibility of accommodating more ships in a period when the international demand for LNG cargo is increased.
