More than one person found a value over R$ 1 million forgotten in a financial institution. The data were released by the Central Bank this Friday (1st).
While one customer withdrew R$1.625 million, another discovered R$1.155 million of remaining balance. A third Brazilian still had around R$838,000 at his disposal. All values refer to closed consortium groups.
The three largest withdrawals made in the Values Receivable System in the first weeks of operation of the monetary authority tool total around R$ 3.62 million. There were also those who discovered money forgotten in savings accounts in the approximate amount of R$ 279 thousand.
On Tuesday (29), BC’s Director of Relationship, Citizenship and Conduct Supervision, Mauricio Moura, had already revealed the highest value found.
“The vast majority of resources are of very small amounts, after all, few people forget a lot of money in a bank account”, said the director of the BC at the IV Forum of Public Management, promoted by Faciap, in Curitiba (PR).
“This person did not know that he had R$ 1.65 million in his name in the financial system and, thanks to the Values Receivable System, he recovered this money. I imagine he was very happy”, he added.
On Monday (28), the BC started a new payment schedule for the forgotten money. The calendar, which runs until April 16, is valid for people and companies that have not yet withdrawn the remaining balance.
The redemption request can be made for a whole day, with no time restriction. The release continues to be made according to the birth date of the individual or the opening date of the legal entity.
