The final upgrades of the Olympic Ride Railing, EUR 14 million, are starting to upgrade.

The Olympic of OAKA It enters a new era, with the start of the final upgrade and maintenance work, total budget EUR 14 millionwhile the road to convert it into a modern, multifunctional sports facility.

The Bike lane It maintains its leading role in the sport of cycling and is at the same time shaped to host team sports, dominated by handball, with appropriate technical adjustments.

Interventions include:

· Repair, maintenance and waterproofing of the roof and wooden track – budget: 1.8 million euros

· Restoration of the static adequacy of the roofs – budget: EUR 11 million,

· While the energy upgrade of the installation has been completed – budget: EUR 1.2 million has been completed

Works start next Monday, 14/07/2025 and the Bike lane will remain closed for about 8 months, with completion horizon to Easter of 2026.

However, it was ensured that the smooth conduct of the Pan -Hellenic Men’s and Women’s Championship at the end of July.

At the office of the Deputy Minister of Sports, Giannis Broutsisa meeting was held with the President of the Hellenic Cycling Federation (EEA), Vassilis Diamantopoulos and the President of the Hellenic Handball Federation (OCA), Costas Gandi, in the presence of the President of the OAKA, Ioanna Batsou and the Coordinator Seamless continuation of racing and training activities during the projects.

Both presidents expressed their positive attitude and support to Ministryemphasizing the necessity of the interventions and the perspective that is being opened for their sports.

Mr. Vroutsis stressed:

“The OAKA bike ride is going through a new era. With substantial interventions, design and investment, it is formed into an exemplary, multifunctional installation.

The OAKA is reborn, and again acquires the position it deserves, as a reference point for Greek sport.

The Ministry of Sports continues consistently the task of upgrading public sports infrastructure, supporting sports, federations and the new generation of athletes. “

Mr. Diamantopoulos pointed out:

“Cycling perfectly supports the bike ride upgrades. It is a meaningful intervention that will give a new momentum to athletes, our athletes and in our sport in general.

I would like to thank the Ministry of Sports and personally to Mr Broutsis for the will to provide immediate solutions to any problems created by plan and method. “

Mr. Gandis underlined:

“Handball and our national teams are getting a new perspective with their entry into the Olympic Bike in OAKA.

It is a very positive development and we believe that with the full and practical support of Mr Broutsis and the ministry’s services will find the most appropriate solution to housing our needs, as long as the bike lane will remain closed.
