Finally, the government is putting on the pay TV tax. THE taxwhich is burdened by 10% more than one million subscription television accounts, has been “ends” since January 2026, following a processing by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, under the Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

The announcement is expected to make Saturday at TIF the prime minister Sunday Mitsotakis. The annual budgetary costs are estimated at 22m euros and its abolition was a fixed market demand for a tax imposed by the SYRIZA government at the time of the Memorandums, “inflating” the subscriber’s accounts.

This fee shall be imposed on each monthly account of each link to pay -TV and is estimated as a percentage of ten percent (10%) on the total monthly account, including the fixed fee in favor of the business, before the value added tax. If the account is issued for more months, as many fees as the months are imposed. In this case, in order to find the fee, the account is divided into equal parts, depending on the months for which it is issued, provided that there is no different allocation.

The fee is collected by service companies pay -television and is attributed to the tax administration with monthly statements submitted by the end of the following month from the issuance of each account, regardless of the time of its repayment, in accordance with the provisions signed.
