The government’s willingness to constantly reduce taxes and the progress made in dealing with tax evasion and smuggling was focused on the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, George Kotsiras, speaking on Friday, September 5th on a panel of taxes and taxpayers, Crisis’, which takes place in Thessaloniki.

In the face of tomorrow’s speech by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the inauguration of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, Mr Kotsiras pointed out that the efforts that have been made over the years to stabilize public finances and reduce tax burdens for Greek citizens will continue in the years.

“Now that our economy has stabilized and developed, we want to go back to the citizens who have put a major social dividend over the years,” the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance stressed, and emphasized the importance of developing the economy and tackling tax evasion to increase public revenue.

Asked, in particular about smuggling, Mr Kotsiras emphasized the very important steps that have been taken lately to deal with it, both legislative and operational.

The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance referred, in particular, to the new Customs Code, which was recently voted on, introducing stricter penalties and increased fines and promoting the exchange of information between AADE and other prosecution services and digitizing control procedures. Initiatives to combat smuggling and tax evasion will continue.

Finally, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance emphasized Greece’s active role in shaping the Union legislation and the crucial role that our country will be called upon to play in the second half of 2027, when it is the presidency of the EU Council. In a period of increased geopolitical and geopolitical, Weighted, Mr. Kotsiras noted.
