A new chairman of the Council of Economic Experts (SOE), which belongs to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, is taken over by Ms. Zafira Kastrinakis.

Ms Kastrinakis succeeds Mr Michalis Argyros, who will now be headed by the Prime Minister’s financial office.

Zafira Kastrinaki is a PhD in Economics at the University of Warwick, a master’s degree in Finance from the University of Sheffield and a degree in Economics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

He has years of academic experience, having been a Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Brunel University and Assistant Professor at the University of Bath and University College London, and has developed research programs at Imperial College London on innovation and economic growth. Her research work focuses on microeconomics and economics of competition, with significant publications in international scientific journals.

In recent years it has served in the Council of Economic Experts as head of the Department of Economic Development and Structural Reforms, with an active role in shaping policies that enhance the competitiveness and durability of the Greek economy. At the same time, it represents Greece in European and International Committees (Ecofin, OECD, Global Forum on Productivity) and in 2023 was elected Chairman of the ECOFIN Committee and Climate Change (EPC).
