Signed today at its offices Federation of Banking Employees of Greece (OTOE) the new three-year sectoral Collective Bargaining Agreement (BCC) OTOE – banks.

According to a relevant announcement, OTOE and the banks reached on March 31, 2022, after three months of painstaking negotiations, an agreement on the content of the new sectoral BCC 2022-2024, which was approved by the General Council of OTOE on April 1, 2022.

In particular, as pointed out in the announcement, with the new sectoral BCC:

“- The employment protection clause is significantly strengthened:” The parties reaffirm their willingness to protect employment in the sector. The employers in the sector take reasonable steps to prevent dismissals for economic and technical reasons. “

It is the only BCC that includes a clause to protect against redundancies.

– The salaries of the single salary are improved by a total of 5.5%, escalating over a three-year horizon. At the same time, the institutional value of the single payroll is protected.

– For the first time, in a sectoral BCC of such breadth in the country, the introductory basic salary (step) of the single salary will exceed 1,000 euros.

– For the first time in a sectoral BCC in Greece, 15 regulatory framework points are introduced for teleworking, with the adoption of a large part of the respective claiming framework of OTOE: The right to disconnect at the end of the working hours is provided. This framework is the basis for further improvements and specializations at the operational level.

– The validity of the arrangements for the mortgage loans of the bank employees is extended for the next three years.

– The conditions for granting the annual regular leave are codified and improved.

– The facilities for the camps are guaranteed.

Aid for research and training activities is maintained, as well as aid for cultural and sporting activities, aimed at industry workers.

– The codification of the current provisions of the sectoral BCCs, which arose with law 4808/21, is regulated, without questioning existing labor rights and the ultimate provision of the BCC of the sector.

At a time of intense uncertainty, instability, questioning and devaluation of the trade union movement and labor rights, at a time when sectoral BCCs are being challenged, at a time when few sectoral BCCs remain in the country, while the challenges of digital banking and institutional needs collective protection of employees are multiplied, OTOE, through systematic, documented and effective negotiations, managed and achieved:

– to resolutely defend the institution of sectoral BCCs, so that employees have a satisfactory and dignified Sectoral Collective Bargaining Agreement,

– fully secure all previous arrangements for their wage and institutional rights, providing them with security and prospects for the next three years.

– to form a new BCC, according to the modern needs of the new era. A BCC is a springboard for new job achievements at the operational level “, says the Federation, noting that the new three-year Sectoral Collective Bargaining Agreement sends a strong institutional message in all directions. “A message of optimism, self-confidence and perspective with wider social and political implications.”

At the same time, OTOE emphasizes that, together with all employees, “it will continue the fight for the improvement and protection of rights, the defense of the institution of BCCs, free collective bargaining, the protection of our income from the precision that today emerges as a dominant and broader political issue and is a demand of Greek society and all workers. “
