Of Chrysostom Chufi

Today the new rationalized joint payroll (with minor differences in the rates of grade surcharge) is running for Armed Forces and Security Forces that bring average monthly increases of 145 euros for 75,567 members of the Armed Forces and 111 euros for 75,855 police officers.

The first big change is about the scales. To date it has been 35 and are divided according to the degree of service. As a result, distortions were created as different grades may have been in the same step for example.

The new system is much simpler with 20 scales depending on the years of service, that is, as a time. Every 2-3 years, the step will change and therefore there will be an increase in salary.

A coefficient of increasing will apply to these scales based on the degree. The coefficients are escalating:

  • From 1 (Short Redatory Hoplites) to 2 (Chief of General Staff) for the Armed Forces
  • From 1.02 (Special Guard) to 1.8 (GSE leader, GEN, OHIM)

To these changes must be added and the increase to liability allowance which is shaped as follows:

In addition, administration allowance is introduced for both the Armed Forces and the Security Forces.

It escalates from 100 euros for lower officers up to 400 euros for the maximum.

Based on all these changes a monthly benefit is raised:

From EUR 115 to EUR 1,735 (AGHEHTA) for Category A (executives coming from Higher Military Education Institutions

From EUR 64 to 311 euros for Category B (those who come from the Armed Forces Officers’ Production Schools and from Productive or Non -Schools of Security Bodies)

From 28 euros to 202 euros for Category C (executives originating from EPO – OPY – NTUA – EPY, as well as the Category D Police Personnel).

From 50 euros to 69 euros for category D (Special Guards and Border Guards).

Examples

Captain Class A to 16 years of service will see an increase of 254 euros per month. The corresponding Police Officer II will see an increase of 235 euros.

Warrant officer Class B with 27 years will see a monthly increase of 139 euros. The corresponding firefighter will have an increase of 119 euros.

However, the uniforms benefit from reform of the tax scale.
