Rihanna and two young Brazilians appear among the new billionaires on the Forbes list, released this Tuesday (5th). Made annually, the magazine’s 36th ranking has 2,668 names, 236 of which have joined the selection in the last 12 months. Together, they are worth US$12.7 trillion.

Newcomer to the list, Rihanna, 34, has a net worth valued at $1.7 billion. In 2019, Forbes had already listed the singer as the richest female artist in music, with, at the time, a fortune of US$ 600 million (R$ 2.7 billion).

However, Rihanna does not appear on the list for her music career, but for her success in selling cosmetics Fenty Beauty, launched in 2017, and in the lingerie business Savage X Fenty, from 2019. The feat made her the first billionaire of Barbados, her home country, of which she was named national hero in December last year.

This year’s Forbes list features Brazilian financial sector newcomers Pedro Franceschi, 25, and Henrique Dubgras, 26. The magazine says the duo features the youngest new billionaires on the list, with net worth of US$ 1.50. billion each (almost R$ 7 billion).

They are co-founders of corporate credit card startup Brex, which, according to Forbes, was valued at $12.3 billion by investors in January. This characterizes it as a decacorn, a term used in the technology market for startups worth more than US$ 10 billion (R$ 46 billion). The term is derived from unicorn — the name given to startups whose market values exceed US$ 1 billion (R$ 4.6 billion).

Young people were already relevant names among entrepreneurs in the financial world before they turned 18, as shown by the Sheet.

Forbes found 1,000 billionaires richer than they were a year ago. Among them, Elon Musk, 50, owner of Tesla, who for the first time heads the selection. His net worth is valued at US$ 219 billion (about R$ 1 trillion).

On Monday (4), Musk acquired a 9.2% stake in Twitter, which made the platform’s shares soar. He will also serve on the social network’s board and promises to make “significant improvements”. Payments firm Tipaldi Approve projects what the entrepreneur will be the first trillionaire in history by 2024.

The 236 newcomers on the list hail from 34 different countries, led by China, which produced 62 of them.

A series of instabilities in the world scenario in the last 12 months, with a pandemic, high inflation and, more recently, the War in Ukraine, also caused the departure of 87 names from the list, says the magazine.

The country with the most drastic drops was Russia, where there are 34 fewer names than last year.

The United States still leads the number of billionaires in the world, with 735 names, which together are worth US$ 4.7 trillion (R$ 1 quadrillion).
