The spread of the effects of the War in Ukraine reached the costs of health devices and equipment, according to monitoring by Abimed (Brazilian Association of the Technology for Health Industry).
In the first quarter of this year, 100% of the companies interviewed in a survey carried out by the entity said they had registered an increase in expenses with sectorial expenses. The origin of the increases lies in the cost of logistics and exchange rate fluctuations.
At least 30% of companies reported increases of more than 20% compared to the period from January to March 2021. According to the entity’s survey, 85% of companies in the sector did not see any reflections of the conflict in the European country on the volume of imported materials .
The entity points out, however, that although the data may be “reassuring, they take into account the volume of imports carried out before the beginning of the conflict and may change if the situation continues for a longer period of time.”
Despite the uncertainties, Abimed’s monitoring shows that 90% of companies expect to close the first quarter with higher revenues compared to 2021, and 45% plan to increase their investments.
