Gasoline price hits record after rising another 2.9% in April

The national average price of gasoline closed the first half of April at R$ 7,498, the highest ever recorded. Compared to March, when the national average was R$7,288, the value rose 2.9%. The information was collected between April 1 and 13 by ValeCard, a company that has been monitoring prices at more than 25,000 service stations across the country since January 2019.

In the last 12 months, the rise in gasoline was 30.7%. In April 2021, fuel cost an average of BRL 5,737.

According to the survey, only Bahia (-2%) registered a drop in the value of fuel in the first half of April. Among the states that registered the highest increases are Piauí (5%), Paraná (4%) and Pernambuco (3.9%).

IT IS WORTH SUPPLYING WITH ALCOHOL ONLY IN FOUR STATES

The liter of fuel alcohol (hydrated ethanol) rose by an average of 4.61% in the first half of April and reached R$ 5,076. ValeCard points out that filling up with alcohol is economically more advantageous only in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and Goiás.

The method used in this analysis, discounting factors such as individual autonomy of each vehicle, is that, to compensate, the value of a liter of ethanol must be less than 70% of that of gasoline.

CUIABÁ, FLORIANÓPOLIS AND PORTO ALEGRE HAVE LOWER PRICES IN CAPITALS

Among the capitals, the average value of gasoline was R$ 7,461. Teresina (R$8,245), Aracajú (R$7,760) and Rio de Janeiro (R$7,758) were the capitals with the highest prices in the first half of April. The lowest average values ​​were found in Porto Alegre (R$ 6,740), Cuiabá (R$ 6,939) and Florianópolis (R$ 6,966).

In the city of São Paulo, the average price in the first fortnight was R$6,999.
