Panel SA: Out-of-season Carnival helps the airline industry and boosts flights to São Paulo and Rio

by

The off-season Carnival, scheduled for the Tiradentes holiday with the samba school parade, helped the airline industry in a time of crisis due to the skyrocketing price of jet fuel and ticket prices.

Data from Decolar show that the search for flights to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in the period grew about 96% in the last week compared to the average of the last four weeks.

The increase was almost 120% for the capital of São Paulo and 65% for the state capital on the same basis of comparison.

Decolar says it has seen the movement grow since the beginning of March. Tourists come mainly from Recife, Salvador, Brasília, Porto Alegre and Goiânia.
