The FecomercioSP survey on prices in the tourism sector showed, in March, a monthly increase of 6.48% in vehicle rental, which can be attributed to the difficulty of renewing fleets, according to Mariana Aldrigui, president of the tourism council. of the entity.
In the accumulated twelve months, the advance reaches 18.35%.
“There is more demand for cars, for companies, tourism or Uber, but there are fewer cars to renew this fleet and some for maintenance. So, naturally, there is pressure, added to the inflationary issue of inputs”, he says.
In general, counting the other items of the sector, there was deflation of 0.62%.
Aldrigui says that, with the pandemic cooling down in 2021, families started planning trips for October, November and December. This movement also caused prices to rise.
There was a new drop in demand, and the sector tended to contract again, in a natural rebalancing of the market, which should not be a concern for companies, according to her.
The tourism market managed to raise R$ 13.2 billion in February, according to the survey, an increase of 17.8% compared to the same period last year.
“Although there are companies that stop operating, or even other companies that consume tourism that start to spend less, there is a greater prioritization of expenses made by families. So, there are more leisure trips, which are paid for by the domestic budget, and the people tend to pay in installments and make economic choices, when possible”, explains Aldrigui.
For the professor, Brazil is experiencing an atypical year, with a financial crisis, elections and the World Cup moved to November and December. The optimistic scenario now, therefore, may not be sustained for the rest of 2022 and, from June, according to her, it is possible to see a drop in collections, which should not be drastic.
“It is likely that there will even be more people traveling in 2022 than the equivalent period in 2019 and 2020, but the average ticket is a little lower.”
