With a longer deadline to declare the 2022 Income Tax, 18 million taxpayers obliged to report to the tax authorities have not yet sent the declaration. According to the Federal Revenue, until 11 am this Monday (25), 16.153 million documents had been received.
The deadline for sending the declaration is the 31st of May. In all, 34.1 million documents are expected. Whoever is obliged to declare and misses the deadline pays a minimum fine of R$ 165.74, which can reach 20% of the tax due in the year. Previously, the deadline was this Friday, April 29.
WHO NEEDS TO DECLARE THE GO IN 2022:
- Workers, retirees and public servants who received taxable income of more than BRL 28,559.70 in 2021
- Who received exempt, non-taxable or taxed exclusively at source income above R$ 40 thousand in 2021, which includes the FGTS (Fundo de Garantia do Tempo de Serviço) and unemployment insurance, for example
- Who had, on 12/31/2021, assets and rights of more than BRL 300 thousand
- The taxpayer who carried out an operation on the Stock Exchange in 2021
- Who moved to Brazil and was here on 12/31/2021

Error IR must be fixed
The taxpayer who declares the Income Tax first receives the refund first, if there is no error in the IR. Although the deadline to declare is longer, the dates on which the refund will be paid this year have not changed. There will be five batches that start in May and end in September.
The guidance of the IRS to those who have already delivered the declaration and found a flaw is to make the rectification. In this case, it is necessary to send the rectifying declaration. Anyone who corrects data goes back to the end of the refund queue if they are not part of the legal priorities.
As the deadline is longer, there will also be benefit for those who need to make the IR correction. Until May 31, it is possible to change the taxation option when submitting the rectifying declaration. The taxpayer can choose the complete model, for legal deductions, or the simplified discount.
After the end date, it is no longer possible to change the taxation model. The taxpayer has up to five years to make corrections, if the declaration is not being inspected, a procedure that begins when receiving a notification from the IRS.
The rectifying declaration is made in the same program as the original IR. You must enter the receipt number of the document already sent and correct the errors. After submission, a new receipt number will be generated.
HOW TO FILL OUT THE GO
The first step for those who will send the document is to download the program or the Meu Imposto de Renda application. For those who are declaring for the first time, it is necessary to open a new document. This year, there are news, it is possible to count on the pre-filled IR declaration.
In the case of those who have already declared the IR in previous years, there is the option to import the data, if they have a silver or gold level gov.br account or if they are making the declaration on the same computer as the previous year.
The first form is the identification form, which must contain data such as CPF, address, cell phone number and main occupation, among other information.
Income received must be declared on specific forms, according to their nature. If you had a company salary or are retired from the INSS, for example, the amount goes under “Taxable Income Received from PJ”. If you have provided services to individuals, you must declare it in “Taxable Income Received from Individuals/Foreigners”.
Taxpayer expenses throughout 2021 can be deducted, which guarantees a lower tax payable or a higher refund. Among the main deductions are expenses with dependents, health and education. With the exception of dependents, who have their own form, other expenses are declared under “Payments Made”.
House, car and bank account balances that are greater than R$ 140 must be declared to the tax authorities. This information goes in the “Assets and Rights” sheet. Debts above R$ 5,000 are reported in the “Real Debts and Onus” form, as long as it is not a home or car financing.
