The traditional May Exhibition, which the trade union central UGT (União Geral dos Trabalhadores) holds every year on Avenida Paulista, in the open air, to celebrate the month of workers, will have construction insurance this year, according to Ricardo Patah, president of entity.
The fear of confrontation grew after the Bolsonarista movements announced their plans to hold an act in Paulista on May 1st in defense of conservative agendas and deputy Daniel Silveira, who benefited from Bolsonaro’s pardon last week.
“Last year, there was no insurance. This year, we are going to do it. Bolsonaristas are in favor of weapons, of litigation, so we have to be cautious. We are in favor of peace, dialogue, social inclusion,” he says. Patah.
The exhibition reaches its eighth edition this year, with panels by the artist Eduardo Kobra in a tribute to the working class on the theme of 200 years of Independence.
There will be 30 categories honored based on photographs of workers such as bank clerks, truck drivers and collectors.
On the 1st of May, the unified act of the union centrals will be held at Charles Miller Square, in front of the Pacaembu stadium, and the entities await the presence of Lula.
To hold their simultaneous event, Bolsonaristas must comply with the prior notice to the municipal administration or the government of São Paulo required for holding demonstrations, events and acts in the capital.
