Lieutenant Maria Luisa Michelon Silveira is the first flight instructor on the H-50 Esquilo helicopter, the FAB (Brazilian Air Force) reported this Tuesday (26).
The helicopter is used to train future FAB combat pilots through a specialization course at Esquadrão Gavião, in Parnamirim (RN).
The instructor is from Santa Maria (RS) and joined the FAB in January 2012. She went through four years of training at the AFA (Academia da Força Aérea), in Pirassununga (211 km from São Paulo), and in 2016 she was classified for the Fifth Squadron of the Eighth Aviation Group, serving from 2017 to 2021.
She will also be a flight instructor on the H-60 Black Hawk and C-98 Caravan aircraft.
“I am very grateful to have returned to the Esquadrão Gavião and to have the opportunity to contribute to the training of the new generation of Rotary Wing pilots. Today I have a little more experience and I can repay the Air Force for all the effort that, one day, my instructors dedicated to my training as an H-50 pilot”, he says.
“I feel very proud to be the pioneer and I hope that this can open paths and encourage other women to fight for their spaces and achieve their goals, regardless of their area of activity”, says Silveira.
