Which countries depend on Russian gas and to what extent (tables)

by

Europe is highly dependent on Russian gas, as shown by the tables presented by SKAI. The “blood donation” of European countries with Russian gas touches in some cases complete dependencehighlighting the EU’s complacency about diversifying its sources, with Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine being a “sudden wake-up call”.

Particularly, Finland, which is considering joining NATO, imports 94% of natural gas from Russia, while Latvia 93%, ie in these countries there is a Russian monopoly.

The Czech Republic imports 80% of its gas from Russia, Bulgaria 77% of its natural gas, and now faces the closure of the tap from Moscow. Austria, for its part, imports 52% of its gas from Russia, while Germany covered 49% of its gas needs (according to the latest figures 35%), Italy 46%, Poland 40%. , Greece imports 39% of natural gas from Russia, while France, which has nuclear energy, 29%. It is noted that it will take months, at least, to substantially reduce the dependence of European countries on Russian gas.

In the meantime, Germany is turning its attention to the Europe-Russia energy war, as it has to pay a gas contract to Gazprom in three twenty-four hours. The official German position so far is that the contract will be paid in euros or dollars, and not in rubles as Moscow claims, because this would be a violation of the terms of the contracts signed by both parties.
