The Staples Center, the giant Los Angeles gym that is home to NBA teams like the Lakers and Clippers and hosts concerts and big awards like the Grammys, will change its name. After Christmas, it is called Crypto.com Arena.
The “naming rights,” rights to the name, were purchased by the cryptocurrency company for the next 20 years in a deal with operator AEG, according to Crypto.com.
The gym has 20,000 seats and since its opening in 1999, it has been known as the Staples Center, the name of the American office supply chain that until then had the “naming rights”.
