Complain about unfair practices of digital platformswho are abusing their dominant position in the online booking market, submitted today to the Competition Commission the Hotel Chamber of Greece.
The complaint, as highlighted in a relevant announcement, places special emphasis on the non-compliance of Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) with previous Competition Commission rulings on arbitrary exchange rate clauses still imposed by Online Travel Agencies, but also in the methods of misleading advertising that they apply, which were developed and continue through the online searches of usersas certified by a relevant investigation of the Misleading Advertising Observatory that monitors and records these practices on behalf of the FDI.
It is pointed out that the The FDI’s complaint comes after a series of contacts with national associations representing the hospitality industry in countries such as Germany and France.which have dealt decisively with these practices, but also in the light of the new data created by the new Digital Markets Act (DMA) that has been adopted and is now in force in the European Union, justifying the ten-year effort of HOTREC for compliance of digital platforms with a defined framework of obligations and prohibitions.
