About 55 thousand bakers, from approximately 5,000 bakeries and companies, in São Paulo and Greater São Paulo, will have a salary increase of 11.08%, according to the São Paulo Bakers Union. The category will receive 7% in November, and the other 4.08% in February 2022.
According to the union, the 11.08%, which corresponds to inflation for the period measured by the INPC (National Consumer Price Index), will focus on salaries, salary levels and the basic food basket.
In the negotiation, there was also the maintenance of the other clauses of the collective labor agreement of the category, guaranteeing items such as the salary bonus on the Category Worker’s Day (Baker’s Day, on June 13), the PLR (Share in Profits and Results) and food stamps.
Chiquinho Pereira, president of the Union, says that the campaign was not easy, mainly due to the crisis in the country, and that the mobilization of the category in bakeries, companies and assemblies was fundamental.
“One thing is certain. The support of workers is needed. A union needs the support of its category. It is necessary that workers agree to fight for the recognition and appreciation of our profession,” he says.
“We need a lot of struggle to earn a better livelihood for our families, as the government treats our people with absolute disregard. People when they don’t have responsibility and respect are not able to respect anyone’s rights. Everyone who works with the presuppositions called a lie is not going anywhere. And, while this board is here, we are going to fight for the rights of our category”, says Pereira.
