The rise in fuel prices and the fall of another Bolsonaro minister; listen to podcast

by

After friction with President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) over Petrobras fuel price controls, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, was fired this Wednesday (11). In his place, economist Adolfo Sachsida, who until then was a special advisor at the Ministry of Economy, took his place.

This is the third time the government has resigned after a rise in fuel prices – this week, the state-owned company announced an 8.87% readjustment for diesel. On the other two occasions, the exchange was in charge of Petrobras.

This Thursday’s Breakfast (12) deals with the new wave of pressure from the government to try to contain the price of fuel in an election year. The reporter from Sheet in Brasilia Alexa Salomão explains what led Bolsonaro to overthrow yet another minister and what the effects of this exchange might be on the president’s popularity.
