The use of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) installation in LNG is expected to reach record levels in June. I was screamingaccording to the planning of DESFA.
Already, the use of infrastructure is moving at a high pace, as Greek and Bulgarian companies are turning to LNG cargo in order to replace the Russian gas that was cut off in Bulgaria or to secure a possible supply cut.
According to the existing planning, the arrival of 11 loads from the companies Elpedison, MORE, MET Energy, DEPA and Mytilineos is planned for next month.
These are loads that correspond to a total of 4.3 terawatt hours (TWh), a size that is a new record: according to the data provided by DEPA in the consultation for the addition of a floating tank in Revythousa, the previous high occurred in January 2020 when they were unloaded in installation of Revythousa LNG loads of size 4.2 TWh.
Comparatively, during the first quarter of 2021, 5.43 TWh of liquefied gas were unloaded in Revythousa and the corresponding period this year, 9 TWh. This means that quantities close to those of the first quarter of 2021 are transported from Revythousa in one month.
The Board of Directors of DESFA decided last week to proceed with the lease for a period of 12 months, following a tender conducted through “SSY Gas”.
According to the information, the lease is assigned to Gaslog, while according to the same sources, “The addition of FSU will significantly upgrade the storage capacity of the Revythousa Terminal, while enhancing the flexibility of the regional supply chain with its Liquefied Natural Security. country ».
The new floating unit is expected to be installed in July and will have a capacity of over 150,000 cubic meters of LNG (compared to 225,000 sq.m. which is the capacity of the existing three tanks in Revythousa). According to market participants, it can also facilitate the unloading of cargo from the spot market, at better prices.
It is noted that, with the onset of the energy crisis and the subsequent interruption of Russian gas supplies to Bulgaria, Revythousa is a supply hub not only for the Greek but also for the regional gas market.
The supply capacity of the regional market through Greece is further upgraded with the installation of the new floating liquefied natural gas unit of Gastrade in Alexandroupolis, which is expected at the end of 2023, while three other similar units are planned (second of Gastrade in Alexandroupolis and Alexandroupolis, El. of the Gas Canal in Corinth).
