Less than a week ago, Wallace Landim, aka Chorão, one of the main leaders of the 2018 strike, took a poll on social media to measure which support would have a new strike on the 21st. This Monday (16th), however, the same Chorão says he is concerned about the impacts that a new strike would have on the already fragile Brazilian economy.
According to him, the new attempt at stoppage is not off the agenda, but truck drivers have been looking for alternatives to circumvent the increase in fuel prices.
“We are suffering. Those who are hungry are in a hurry. As one of the leaders, we need to have a lot of responsibility, we need to pass on our concern to society as a whole, because we know about the economic issue. With a stoppage at this moment, the poorest class will suffer much more”, says Chorão.
Talks about strikes heated up again this month because, on the 21st, the great strike of 2018 turns four years old and, once again, in an election year.
Chorão says that the category is holding meetings with other sectors and trying to negotiate alternatives with Congress, state governments and ministries on the withdrawal of the PPI (international parity price) or the creation of a stabilization mattress.
