Entertainment industry consultant Kathryn Arnold told jurors in a Virginia courthouse that actress Amber Heard, 36, lost between $45 million and $50 million. (about R$ 240 million) in work due to the defamation lawsuit filed by ex-husband Johnny Depp, 58.
“Your work stopped,” Arnold said, adding that instead of having the negotiating power for the upcoming “Aquaman 2,” Heard was begging not to be cut from the film.
Arnold compared Heard’s trajectory to other celebrities such as Gal Gadot, Ana De Armas and Zendaya, saying his career would have grown if it weren’t for his public battle with Depp.
Heard would have likely received four other sponsorship deals worth $8 million, $20 million from various film projects and millions of TV projects — if she hadn’t been defamed, Arnold claimed.
The actor is suing Heard for defamation, asking for $50 million (about R$ 240 million) over an article she wrote in The Washington Post newspaper, in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse. She sued him back, asking for double that amount.
The legal dispute between Amber and Depp has been broadcast live on American TV and is one of the most engaged subjects on the networks at the moment. The trial is scheduled to end this Friday (27).
