Actor Johnny Depp, 58, said it was “unimaginably brutal” to hear “outrageous” allegations of domestic violence made by ex-wife Amber Heard, 36. moves against the actress, in court in Virginia, in the United States.
“No human being is perfect, of course not, none of us, but I have never committed sexual assault or physical abuse in my life,” the actor said in the defamation trial that is coming to an end after six weeks.
On the witness stand, Depp was asked by his lawyers what it was like to hear Heard’s testimony. “It’s crazy to hear the terrible accusations of violence, of sexual violence, that she attributes to me,” he said. “All these outrageous stories that I’ve done these things,” the actor added.
“Horrible, ridiculous, humiliating, absurd, painful, savage, brutal in an unimaginable way, cruel and all false,” the actor told the jury. “All fake,” he emphasized.
The actor said that no one “likes to have to expose himself like this and tell the truth”, but that he had to face “what he has been carrying, unintentionally, for six years”.
Heard and Depp were married from 2015 to 2017. In May 2016, the actress obtained a restraining order against her then-husband, alleging domestic violence.
