His joy for the positive and promising developments of the last two decades in Imvroswith regard to operation of minority schools and even high school for the first time in the history of the islandexpressed o Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew inaugurating on the morning of Thursday 26 May, the photo exhibition “Imbros, Pefilimeni Island” in Misirloglio Library of the Holy Monastery of Vlatada.

We have unwavering confidence in the providence of God, of Aai for us“, Noted Mr. Bartholomew, who was received at Vlatada Monastery by the Bishop of Amori and Abbot of the Holy Monastery Mr. Nikiforosrepresentatives of the ecclesiastical, political and military authorities of Thessaloniki and many people.
Inspired by the birthplace of the Ecumenical Patriarch, the exhibition is an honorary tribute to the 30-year Primacy, organized by the civil non-profit company “Byzantine Thessaloniki” in collaboration with the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegian Monastery.
Dedicated to Nikos Maggina
The exhibition captures unique moments of the life of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Imvros, the history and culture of the island and is developed through 130 photographs belonging to private collections of Konstantinos Terpsidis, Nikolaos Maggina, Dimitrios Palavidis, Konstantinos Vantsos, Michalos Sakatis.
The exhibition is dedicated to the late Nikos Magginas, official photographer of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the “friend”, who identified his life with the Patriarchate, as Mr. Bartholomew characteristically said.
The Bishop of Amori and Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Vlatada in Thessaloniki, Mr. Nikiforos, also referred to the intense absence of Nikos Maggiras, expressing his gratitude for his huge photographic work.

Exhibition and awards for students
The Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew expressed the certainty that the exhibition will have many visitors and especially young people. The interactive program that is planned to start next school year for primary and secondary school students also looks forward to this goal.
The children, inspired by this exhibition, will be invited to take part in a multifaceted event entitled “Touching the heights”. In this context, 15 students whose works will be distinguished, will take part in a journey with multiple educational dimensions, which will start from Halki, will pass to Tenedos and will end in Imvros.
There, a new exhibition of students will be presented this time, which the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Vlatada invited the Ecumenical Patriarch to inaugurate.
The exhibition “Imbros, Pefilimeni Island” will last until June 26, 2022
