In favor of his appointment Georgiou Tzilivakithe (first) governor of the new independent Labor Inspectorate was appointed by the parliamentary Committee on Institutions and Transparency, with the MPs of the opposition expressing a positive opinion, but the MPs of the opposition taking a negative position.
The Minister of Labor present expressed his confidence in the success of Mr. Tzivilakis Kostis Hatzidakisnoting that no one can question his scientific knowledge (legal), his 30 years of experience in the management of large groups of employees and especially in the management of human resources.
Responding to interventions by opposition MPs, who questioned the integrity of the election, Mr. Hatzidakis said that Mr. Tzilivakis is not a party official of ND, did not use any acquaintance to convince him of his choice, nor was it imposed by him or another government minister.
In particular, in the criticism that, due to his working past, he would be in favor of entrepreneurs and not in favor of employees, the Minister of Labor said that some things may not be written in the CV, but Mr. Tzilivakis has left companies, precisely because he does not was pressured by the “bosses”.
Criticism by SYRIZA
The Labor Department of SYRIZA, Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou, strongly criticized both the selection process of Mr. Tzilivakis and the legislative “downgrading” of the Labor Inspectorate by the government.
He was ranked sixth based on his qualifications, fourth after the interview and despite that he was chosen by Mr. Hatzidakis, said Ms. Xenogiannakopoulou about Mr. Tzivilakis.
But also Pavlos Polakis, citing a letter from Mr. Tzivelekis’s co-candidate, G. Katapodis – “Ad. Georgiadis “asked if he was” pushed “by Mr. Hatzidakis or by the Minister of State G. Gerapetritis. The process suffers from invalidity, said Mr. Polakis, referring to “political choice”.
“Is Mr. Gerapetritis close to you?” Do you play ball together? ” ND MP Giannis Loverdos asked Mr. Tzilivakis, with the latter answering: “I have never seen him in my life…”.
“Rejected” was the vote of his MP PASOK-Movement for ChangeHarry Kastanidis, who asked the minister the reasons why he did not choose one of the three candidates who preceded Mr. Tzilivakis.
The new governor’s parchments were that he helped reduce the number of employees in the companies he worked for, his MP said. KKE Christos Katsotis.
The MP of the Hellenic Solution, Antonis Mylonakis, referred to the complaint of a fellow candidate of Mr. Tzilivakis for the selection of “likes-defaulters”.
Finally, the MEPA25 MP spoke about the problem of “sham procedures” while reiterating the position for non-cutting of the Labor Inspectorate by the Ministry of Labor.
The answer Tzilivaki
Mr. Tzilivakis expressed his surprise for what was heard that he is in favor of SEV, Maximos, etc.
“For 31 years in my career, no one has ever picked up the phone and no one has tried to influence anyone for my choice. It is a matter of professional dignity, to go ahead with my CV and my value. I left companies because I did not like administrations and properties. I understand my role as a shock absorber that absorbs vibrations towards administrations / properties and employees. “I do not implement everything that is immoral and illegal,” said Mr. Tzilivakis.
He even stressed that his vision for the independent authority is, “through the implementation of the law, to support the weak, that is, both the employee and the employer who works legally, and thus contribute to further improvement of democracy in the country.”
For his part, the Minister of Labor, K. Hatzidakis, reiterated that the creation of an independent authority shields the controls in the workplace from the possibility of government interventions allowed by the previous situation, noting that until now the head of the Labor Inspectorate was appointed by each Minister, while now he is selected through a competitive process and approved by the Parliament: Out of the 23 candidates, the initial evaluation committee (headed by the president of ASEP) approved 4, and the next administration committee sent me two of them, while, as a minister, I chose Mr. Tzivilakis.
The fellow candidate, mentioned by the opposition MPs, was not among the two final names proposed, Mr. Hatzidakis noted and wondered: Does the minister have the right to choose one of the two or is he limited? He stressed that a procedure provided by Greek law was followed, which is followed in the European Commission for the selection of executives. Regarding what was heard about Mr. Gerapetritis, he said that he did not discuss the issue with him, “not even for a second”.
What you contradictively say, is a great political sponsorship for us, concluded Mr. Hatzidakis addressing opposition MPs.
