Sandra Annenberg opens up about menopause and warns: ‘It’s painful’

by

Sandra Annenberg is discovering that getting old isn’t easy. Close to completing 54 years of age in early June, the presenter of “Globo Repórter” said that she entered menopause and lives with the symptoms of climacteric – a scientific name that describes the physiological transition from a woman’s reproductive period to the non-reproductive period – .

Invited to participate in the debate on GNT’s “Saia Justa”, aired this Wednesday (25), about the pain and delight of women in their 50s, the journalist revealed that she has suffered from some discomforts such as hot flashes, dry skin and irritation. “I’m at the peak of the climacteric. There are 25 symptoms that exist in the climacteric and you’re still going to have yours… I thought I was going to be beaten, that it wouldn’t get me, but it’s getting mad [o climatério]”, warns.

Sandra recalled that talking about menopause remains taboo among women. “It’s not wonderful, no. The mother tells us about the first period, the [primeira] fuck, when she talks, but nobody talks about menopause. It’s not easy to get old, it’s not nice, it’s painful,” she admits.

She also commented to Sabrina Sato, Luana Xavier, Larissa Luz and Astrid Fontenelle that she has tried to alleviate the symptoms of the climacteric with hormone replacement, healthy eating and physical activity. Another factor that has helped her is the understanding of her husband, journalist Ernesto Paglia: “The guy has to be together, he has to take the hand. We talk a lot. It took a while to sink in, it took me a while to understand”, assumes the journalist , who hopes for better days: “I believe that, after every critical period, the calm comes”.
