The unanimously positive opinion of the Central Council of Modern Monuments for the study of its restoration Staff building and its preliminary designs (architecture, static, electromechanical) of the new Voustasi, as well as its transformation into a showroom, paves the way for acceleration of work in the specific buildings. The restoration project of the new Voustasio, with a budget of 4,300,000 euros and horizon of completion at the end of 2025 has secured funding from the Recovery Fund, while the conversion of the Staff building into a hostel will be implemented by a private investor.
As stated by Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni “The works in Tatoi are proceeding according to the schedules set by the Ministry of Culture, so that the property can be returned to Attica as a cultural pole and as a development resource. With the interventions in the Staff building and in the new Voustasio, the authentic characteristics of the buildings of the historical core of the estate are restored, preserving and highlighting their monumental character. Respecting the principles of restoration, the architectural, constructional and morphological characteristics of the monuments are preserved and highlighted. The buildings are being modernized to make them fully functional for their new uses. At the same time, with mild interventions in the surrounding area, the natural environment and the character of the Estate as a historical place are highlighted “.
The Staff building, built in the early 20th century, restored and converted into a hostel, accessible to the disabled. As part of the modernization of the building, modern electromechanical installations are installed, without affecting the morphology of the monument’s shell. At the same time, the surrounding area is being redesigned to serve the new use of the hotel, but also the property as a promenade and recreation area.
The building of the new Voustasiou was completed in 1952 and replaced the older building located further north, as it was not sufficient to meet the needs of the developing agricultural production of the estate at that time. It is an important post-war building of the estate and its possible creator is mentioned by the architect Konstantinos Guinness. It had a capacity of about 90 animals and employed 4 stables.
The new Dairy is planned to function as a museum space promotion of the agricultural production of the estate, but also for the exhibition of cars. On the ground floor, an exhibition space is created with objects that are preserved in the building – items of the agricultural and livestock production of the estate – with separate sections for the exhibition of dairy, oil and wine production. The exhibition of car-monuments is developed in the west wing of the building. Exhibits include Rolls-Royce, MG TD Midget, electric Fiat 500 Boano Spider Elegance and golf carts. The building provides support functions, such as reception, shop, toilets and multipurpose room.
