The death of Madeleine (Karine Teles) as it happened in the first version of “Pantanal”, in 1990, brought problems for the author Bruno Luperi, 35. Neto of Benedito Ruy Barbosa and responsible for the remake at Globo, he revealed that he suffered attacks by the tragic end of Jove’s mother (JesuÃta Barbosa). “Some issues thought out back there can change, others can’t. It hurts whoever it hurts, we have to respect it. People cursed me, blamed me [pela morte]but the soap opera was conceived that way”, he admits.
Luperi kept a secret about the long-awaited scene in which Alcides (Juliano Cazarré) will have his genital organ severed by Tenório (Murilo BenÃcio). “No one will see the soap opera if I answer everything. But some events have to happen, maybe not in the way they were conceived”, the author blurted out in an interview with the newspaper O Globo.
He also said that some topics and characters in the first version of the plot gained another weight. “We are feeling this in relation to Maria Bruaca [Isabel Teixeira]. There is a more sensitive look at the role of women, about what machismo is, a toxic relationship”, he evaluates to complete the reasoning.
“Society is much more attentive to the nuances. The soap opera does not have a moralizing character, but it has to present reality”, concludes Luperi.
