Anitta says she suffers from honeymoon cystitis after intercourse; understand

Singer Anitta, 28, revealed to presenter Sabrina Sato, 40, on her YouTube channel, that she suffers from honeymoon cystitis, a urinary infection that can affect a woman after intercourse. She is popularly known by this name because in the past the couple started their sexual life on their honeymoon.

“One terrible problem I have is honeymoon cystitis. I can’t have sex with someone so big that I can’t walk the next day. It’s horrible!”, said the singer.

The gynecologist Amanda Volpato, from the Hope Clinic, says that the problem is not related to the size of the man’s penis, but to the displacement of bacteria, which are in the region, due to friction during sexual intercourse.

“It can take bacteria from the vagina and even the anal region into the urethra [canal que conduz a urina] of the woman, which is very short”, he explains.

To avoid this type of cystitis, the doctor recommends that the woman always try to urinate after intercourse. “This ends up reducing the risk [de ter essa infecção urinária]”, explains to doctor.

The main symptoms of the disease are burning when urinating, feeling that the bladder is always full and when you go to the bathroom there is little urine and pain in the lower abdomen. If the woman has these symptoms, the doctor recommends that she see a doctor.

Amanda says that the diagnosis is made by examining the urine, which will detect the infection and the type of bacteria. “The treatment we do with antibiotics like any urinary infection and we have to treat it according to the bacteria”, he explains.

The gynecologist warns that the honeymoon cystitis needs to be treated not to get worse and have a pyelonephritis, when the bacteria rises to the kidneys. “It would be a complication of a urinary tract infection, which is when it reaches the kidney. It is no longer just in the bladder, it is no longer a cystitis.”
