In the year of Globo’s farewell, Galvão Bueno ‘narrates’ even the gondola race

by

Since announcing his departure from Globo at the end of March, Galvão Bueno, 71, has shared funny videos on his social networks involving some remarkable narrations in his 41-year career. Not satisfied, he now also decided to ‘narrate’ eccentric competitions, to say the least. The most recent was a gondola race in Venice, Italy.

“Attention that the canoeing Grand Prix is going to be started here on the Venetian lagoon. The yellow is messed up, it’s curled up. Everyone has to be positioned as in horse racing. Everyone at the starting gate,” he began. Galvão on the balcony of a hotel in the Italian city. “The start of the Grand Prix of Venice was given. Finally. The white gondola has already taken the edge”, he joked, ending the recording, leaving netizens curious about the end of the competition.

Galvão is visiting several cities in Europe with his wife, Desirée Soares, almost two weeks ago. Before that, he had already made a video with the audio montage of the 50-meter freestyle event at the 2008 Olympics, when César Cielo won the gold medal in swimming. The new broadcast shows three dogs fighting head to head in a river. Another “narration” was a video of a cat jumping to catch a stuffed bunny. “Tafareeeeellll. Get out your sweat, Tafarel!” screams in the background.

The Qatar World Cup in November will mark the farewell of the broadcaster’s narrator, but Galvão has already let slip that he does not intend to retire anytime soon. “We are negotiating other things. Other paths. And, probably, a lot of things in this digital world and other platforms within Grupo Globo. Globo is my home,” he said.
