Kanye West and Drake have been embroiled in a long-running feud over the years, culminating in a series of diss songs aimed at verbal assault, leaks and controversies over delays in the release of their Donda and Certified Lover Boy albums earlier this year.
Now, however, the two rappers are going to put aside their differences to appear in an upcoming concert for a good cause, for the convicted gang leader Larry Hoover, “Free Larry Hoover”.
Announcing the reunion, the two rappers shared a photo last week with Rap-A-Lot CEO J Prince.
Adding a dove to the caption of the post, they seemed to settle their differences in preparation for the concert in Los Angeles.
Earlier in the month, Ye and J Prince publicly invited Drake to attend the concert with a video statement on J Prince’s Instagram account. “It’s time to dump her and move on,” he said of his relationship with Drake.
Of course, this is not the first time Kanye West has campaigned for the release of the Gangster Disciples co-founder, who has been sentenced to six life sentences after being convicted of murder, conspiracy and various other charges in 1997.
In 2018, Kanye appeared on the SNL show wearing a MAGA (Make America Great Again) hat and a “Free Hoover” shirt and made an unsuccessful call for Hoover to be released during a meeting with then-US President Donald Trump. Most recently, he introduced Hoover’s son, Larry Hoover J. on the song on Donda’s album “Jesus Lord”. The song includes a recording by Hoover J. in which he thanks the rapper for his involvement in his father’s case.
The concert at the LA Coliseum in support of Larry Hoover and the reform of the penitentiary system in the USA is organized on December 9.
